It will cover team-based techniques for avoiding, anticipating, and de-escalating content concerns with a focus on library materials challenges and the role of each team member in the lifespan of a challenge. Stephanie will discuss the types of content concerns along with how ethics, law, regulations, and school policy guide the content concern and challenge process. Breakfast will be provided.

Session 2: Content, Collection Management, and Communication, 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
This session, presented by Attorney Stephanie Adams, is designed for school librarians to help them navigate content concerns with confidence. It will cover techniques for avoiding, anticipating, and de-escalating content concerns with a focus on library materials challenges. We will discuss how law, school policy, ALA Code of Ethics, and AASL Common Beliefs apply to content concerns. Stephanie will also share advocacy tools for personal well-being for self or others throughout the process of a content concern. Lunch will be provided after the morning session for those attending the afternoon session.
